Q: How & where do we report municipal issues?

  • Water – Joburg Water etc
  • Electricity  – City Power etc
  • Noise violations (including barking dogs, loud music etc)  – JMPD etc
  • Potholes – JRA etc

  • ILM Website – An independently curated website.
  • Melville Residents’ Association (MRA) Membership based organisation represented by a body of resident volunteers that meets monthly to address issues and plan events in and for the community.
  • Melville Business Association (MBA) A membership-based organisation of local business owner/operators.
  • Melville Security Initiative (MSI) Managed by a group of local resident volunteers with the primary goal of maintaining & implementing security solutions for the safety and security of the community.

Q: I want to renovate/make alterations to my home, what’s the process?

Many Melville homes are over 60 years old and permission to make changes to a property is required from the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority Gauteng (PHRAG) before the municipality will approve any plans.
